Huahine is often an island that gets overlooked. Fact is it is one of the lushest islands in French Polynesia, especially for the Society Islands. We've purchased vanilla beans, vanilla paste and vanilla extract. We have purchased a few beans as well as a whole kilo when the price was right. The best place to buy vanilla beans is on the island of Tahaa. There are several places on the main road around Tahaa as well as circle the island excursions.

A decade ago there were no taxis close to the tender drop off location on Bora Bora. Now there are usually several sitting within walking distance ready to take you around the island. Most visitors grab a ride to Matira Beach or Bloody Mary's ... here is a map to show you where to grab a taxi.

Huahine is a wonderful island to drive around on your own. Most tourist only see Huahine Nui (the larger part). Though beautiful and all sorts of interesting places to see and visit the real gem IMO is Huahine-Iti. Off the beaten trek and less tourist the south end is filled with panoramic vistas and little cafes.

I get asked all the time is there a good swimming beach on Fakarava close to the tender location. Though there are not many close to the tender location ... here is one that you can walk to. About a 20 minute walk. Go to your right from the tender drop off on the main road. Go past top dive, you will see a short pier on the right with a huge shade tree. I've used this location many times.
